| Batik BIXA - Natural Color Batik
| | Bixa is a plants name content of Bixin natural substance. The complete name of this plant is Bixa Orellana which grows along Java island. “We use Bixa name as our company name because the plant is one of natural colorant we use, “ Hendri Suprapto, the owner and establisher BIXA batik says. The natural batik company, which was established in 2000, is special established to fulfil request of batik market, which uses natural colorant as the substitution of chemical substance. Besides, the using of natural colorant substance on batik can avoid the cancer sickness, which cause of gugus azo as chemical colorant substance (synthetic).
For material ready, we usually get at around area where the plants content of natural colorant substance has been developed and growth by BIXA Company. Hendri Suprapto is helped by his wife, Sri Setyowati and 20 permanent workers in managing Bixa batik. The workers work based on their department. The departments are Mordanting, Design, Batik doing, Painting, Wax displacement, Quality Control, and Marketing. Bixa batik products are selendang (stole usually worn over our shoulder), scarf, stelan (set of clothes), stole, and sarong. All products are made of ATBM (non machine weaving tool) silk which is then painted by using natural material from plants, so it is safe for environment and its waste is not danger for human. Production capacity for selendang type achieves 1000, scarf 1500, stelan 500, stole 1000 and sarong can achieve 200 per month.
Batik BIXA is the one and only corporation in Indonesia which has stepped into International organization, name Natural Dying International Association. That organization moves on textile field by using natural material. Not yet this old, the ministry of environment from Singapore visited Bixa batik because he was interested with its friendly environment products.
